Rich Snippets
Rich snippets are enhanced search results in search engines like Google that provide additional information about the displayed website. Unlike a traditional search result, which consists only of a title, URL, and meta description, rich snippets include visual or structured elements such as ratings, prices, availability, FAQ excerpts, or event data.
These additional details come from structured data embedded in the HTML code of a website—usually using Schema.org markup. Search engines read this markup and can then choose to highlight specific content as a rich snippet in search results. The goal is to provide the user with more context and added value at a glance.
An example: A product page in e-commerce includes structured data for price, star rating, and delivery time. When the page appears in Google search results, stars, price information, and an “in stock” notice are displayed below the page title — a clear advantage over purely text-based results.
The major benefit of rich snippets lies in increased visibility and click-through rate (CTR). Search results with enhanced information stand out visually and convey relevance and trust even before the first click. This increases the likelihood that users will choose that result.
For SEO strategies, rich snippets are an important part of on-page optimization. They do not directly improve rankings, but they positively influence how well a search result performs. Companies that use structured data correctly gain a clear advantage in the competition for attention in search results.
