HIT

A HIT (Human Intelligence Task) refers to a single microtask assigned to numerous users via a crowdsourcing platform. HITs are particularly suitable for tasks that require human judgment or language comprehension and cannot be reliably automated by AI.

Examples of HITs:

Annotating texts (e.g., categorizing customer reviews)

Image analysis (e.g., marking objects in photos)

Data entry and cleansing

Usability tests for websites or apps

Example: A market research company uses a HIT platform to collect user feedback on a new advertisement. Hundreds of testers evaluate different designs and share their opinions.

HITs are an efficient way of harnessing human intelligence on demand. Companies benefit from the scalability of such systems, while crowdworkers can work flexibly on small tasks and earn money with them.
